Toolbox talk
The enduring practical and visual advantages of well-selected hardwood flooring.
Answer first
The short answer comes first. The construction detail and important exceptions follow through the guide.

Yes. We can review ideas, measurements, materials and practical detailing, and identify where drawings, engineering, certification or specialist trade input is required.

Practical guide
Hardwood brings warmth, depth and natural variation that manufactured surfaces struggle to reproduce. With appropriate species selection and finishing, it can serve a home for decades rather than one decorating cycle.
Technical detail
Species, board width, subfloor preparation, moisture and finish all affect performance. A good result comes from treating the floor as a complete system, not simply choosing a colour from a sample.
Why it matters
Moisture, flatness, movement, acoustic requirements and finished floor levels should be checked before boards arrive. A premium hardwood cannot compensate for a damp, uneven or poorly prepared base.
Species, grade and board width should be selected with the room size, light and expected movement in mind. Wider boards can create a calmer appearance, but the installation method and environmental conditions still need to suit them.
Putting it into practice
One of hardwood's strengths is that wear can often be sanded and refinished instead of requiring full replacement. That advantage depends on the wear layer, installation, coating and sensible everyday care.
Use compatible cleaning products, limit standing water, protect high-traffic points and maintain stable indoor conditions. Small scratches and natural colour change are part of a real timber floor rather than evidence that it has failed.
