Project thinking

The mould becomes part of the finished architecture.

Board direction, shutter joints, tie positions, curves and bracing are planned around the concrete surface that will remain after the temporary formwork is stripped. We resolve dimensions, materials, junctions, access and finishes before construction so the completed work feels intentional rather than added on.

You deal directly with Zach throughout the project, keeping communication clear and the standard of workmanship consistent from the structural work through to the final carpentry detail.

Construction detail

Detail that holds up over time.

Good formwork work is as much about what sits behind the finished surface as what you see. Substrates, fixings, movement, drainage, ventilation, weather exposure and future maintenance are considered early—not left as problems for later.

Our work combines the practical knowledge of a licensed builder with the finish-first mindset of a carpenter and joiner. That is especially valuable where structural construction and visible detailing meet in the same project.

Material logic

Material choices made for the site.

Materials are selected for more than colour. We consider durability, coastal exposure, movement, maintenance, compatibility with the existing building and how each junction will be finished. Samples and practical options can be reviewed before the final scope is set.

We work across Terrigal, Avoca Beach, Wamberal, Gosford and surrounding Central Coast suburbs, with selected projects in Sydney where the scope suits our detailed approach.

04

Site performance

A clear path from idea to completion.

The process starts with a conversation about the site, the result you want and any drawings or inspiration already available. From there we can inspect the property, clarify the scope, identify approval or engineering requirements and prepare a detailed quotation.

During construction, decisions stay connected to the whole project. You work directly with the builder responsible for the outcome, with changes and practical constraints discussed before they affect the finished work.

Build sequence

Formwork for visible architectural concrete.

Decorative formwork creates the mould that determines the geometry and visible finish of concrete. Curves, steps, archways, blade columns, entry pads and other one-off forms require accurate set-out, bracing and a clear understanding of how the form will be stripped.

Board direction, joints, tie locations, radii, arrises and interfaces with reinforcement or adjoining construction should be resolved before the concrete pour. The formwork is temporary; the decisions it creates are permanent.

Planning your project

From concept to a buildable form.

We can work from architectural and engineering drawings or help develop a practical method for a custom concrete feature. Complex shapes are broken into measurable components so they can be fabricated, supported and checked on site.

Decorative concrete often meets carpentry, landscaping, waterproofing or external structures. Coordinating those interfaces early reduces patching and gives the completed feature a more deliberate relationship with the home.

Clear answers

Frequently asked questions.

Practical starting points for planning the work. Project-specific advice is confirmed after reviewing the site and scope.

01

What is decorative formwork?

Decorative formwork is purpose-built moulding and support used to create visible concrete shapes or finishes, such as curves, steps, archways, columns and custom entries.

02

Can formwork be made for a one-off design?

Yes. One-off geometry can be developed from architectural or engineering information and translated into a practical fabrication and installation method.

03

What needs to be decided before the pour?

Geometry, finish expectations, joints, edges, reinforcement interfaces, penetrations, support, stripping sequence and access should all be considered before concrete placement.

04

Do decorative concrete elements require engineering?

Structural concrete elements commonly require engineering. The exact requirement depends on the element, loads, site and approval pathway.
